The world of music has evolved in such a way that if you are not good, you can never be recognized. It doesn’t matter where you are coming, when it comes to good music and some African female musicians have come to be identified as some of the best in the continent. The way some of these ladies have surpassed the hurdles to meet the international recognition is inspiring. There is hardly a year that goes by that one female artiste doesn’t break out to give the others a run for their talents.
Interestingly, some of these female singers are fierce and bold when you see them perform. We have listed some of them.
Victoria Kimani is called the First Lady of Chocolate City Label. She is good and doesn’t slack when it comes to pulling out songs. Take for instance her Prokoto video has become a bench mark for most female artistes. She is super talented and irresistible on any stage in the world. She is from Kenya.
Cynthia Morgan is a Nigerian whose hairdo is legendary. She is good at what she does and has been hitting the airwaves with her music. Once, she worked with Ubi Franklin and Iyanya, some of the finest Nigerian music acts. She will turn the heads of men when she gets to the stage to sing.
African female artistes can never be complete without mentioning Tiwa Savage. She is amazingly great and has fans all over Africa. She has been on the rise since started her music career and has gone as far as being signed by a foreign label.
Over the years, we have seen great videos and listened to lovely songs from Tiwa. Against all odds, Tiwa has become an icon in the Nigerian music industry.
South Africa got Lira to herself. She is cool and has become a figure that most ladies look up to. She is hot and talented. You need to see her sing because she is one voice you may never want to miss.
All the way from Ghana comes Efya, the lady who was crowned and named the best female vocalist during the Ghana Music Awards twice. She has become one of the most respected and loved female singer in her country.
Irene Ntale is from Uganda, and came out shining brightly when she was named the Best Female Breakthrough Artiste category during the 2014 Hip-hop Music Awards.
We may have missed some of the greatest names like Waje and others from different parts of Africa. However, we never neglected them because they are still on our list. Africa is blessed richly by these stunning and amazing singers who have crossed hurdles to become super-stars. You will agree with us that some of these ladies deserve to be celebrated.
