Dag Hammarskjöld Fund for Journalists has opened its admission portal to journalists from Asia (including Pacific Island nations), Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America for its 2018 intake in New York, USA .
The journalists are expected to cover the prestigious United Nations General Assembly in September each year. This fellowship provides young journalists an opportunity to work along major news media and also come home to Africa to work.
Eligibility
The fellowship is open to individuals who:
- Should be from any developing countries (listed above). This is for only those applying for 2018. The 2017 Fund which accepted Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Sudan and Afghanistan, cannot apply.
- The individuals should be writing for media in their countries and should live in their countries.
- The age limit is between 25 and 35.
- The individuals should have good command of the English language.
- Both full-time and freelance journalists are invited to apply.
- Have gotten approval from the media organizations they are working to spend up to three months in New York reporting from the United Nations.
- Receive a commitment from their media organizations that the reports they file during the term of the Fellowship will be used and that they will continue to be paid for their services.
